AARP OFFERS FREE RIDES FOR SUMMER

WILMER – If you are looking for an option to Uber this summer, residents in both the cities of Wilmer and Hutchins can take two free rides around the Best Southwest compliments of the AARP Ride@50+ Program.

The program is open to riders of any ages and includes the cities of not only Wilmer and Hutchins, but also Grand Prairie, Cockrell Hill, Duncanville, Cedar Hill, Desoto, Glenn Heights, Lancaster, Sand Branch, Seagoville, Balch Springs, Lawson, Mesquite, Irving, Farmers Branch, Coppell, Carrollton, Richardson, Addison, Garland, Rowlett, Sachse, and Sunnyvale.

According to an AARP Ride@50+Program spokesperson, to receive the two free roundtrip rides, the trips must start or end in one of the cities listed.

The free rides must be booked at the same time and completed by Aug. 12.

“Comparing 2021 and 2022 through the first five months to date, there’s been a 55-percent increase in trips compared to numbers in the past,” said an AARP spoksman.

Overall, there have been 701 unique passengers who have used the AARP Ride@50+ Program since the program was launched.

Dallas has been the top city for pick-up or drop-off locations since the program began targeting the city and focusing on older adults living in the southern sector of Dallas County.

The latest promotion is now targeting northern and southern Dallas County suburbs to reach new passengers.
