ENNIS – The Creative Quilters Guild of Ellis County will hold its 2023 Quilt Show at Sokol Hall in Ennis on July 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, and the price at the door is $8.
Husbands and children under 12 are free.
The theme is “Texas in Bloom” and the show will include around 100 quilts of all sizes on display.
“Entries are accepted both from guild members and members of the public,” said Publicity Chair Diana Buckley, noting that entries were due by June 1.
The Guild will have a silent auction benefitting FirstLook Pregnancy Center in Waxahachie, as well as a Guild booth where quilts will be available for purchase.
“There will be about 25 wonderful vendors at the show,” Buckley said.
“We’ll have fabric and patterns for sale, kits, and hand-dyed fabrics, among other things.” Buckley said there will also be experts on hand to service sewing machines and sharpen scissors and knives. Members of the Ennis Sewing Circle will be demonstrating the art of hand quilting.
Denise Bartosh, an AQS certified appraiser of quilted textiles will be appraising quilts throughout the show. For an appointment to have your quilt appraised, contact Ann Turner at turnersann@msn.com.
Tickets for the 2023 Guild Quilt “Texas in Bloom” will be on sale throughout the show, with the winning ticket being drawn at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
“It’s an exciting show and an exciting year,” said Quilt Show Chair Ann Turner.
“Especially since our Guild is celebrating its 20th year this year.”
Sokol Hall is located at 2622 Texas Highway 34, and there is plenty of free parking available.
