RED OAK – An estimated 40 people participated in Prayer in the Park last Thursday in Watkins Park.
The event was hosted by two church pastors, Pastor David Johnston, Highland Meadows Church and Pastor Jared Thompson of Ardent Church.
The Christian group prayed for the mayor, city council members, first responders, small business owners, the community of Red Oak, and the United States.
Songs sung at the gathering including, “Pour It Out,” “How Great Thou Art,” Rushing River,” and a few more songs.
This is the fourth year Prayer in the Park has taken place, and they hope to have an even bigger gathering next year.
Prayer in the Park was held last year despite covid-19.
The Ardent and Highland Meadows Church pastors commented, “The inspiration behind this event was sensing God asking his church members to come together as one body.
“We are eventually hoping that all of the churches in Red Oak and the surrounding areas will participate in this event in the years to come.”
