DALLAS – And the winners…
The North Texas Film Critics Association (NTFCA) announced this year’s winners today in each of the organization’s 13 voting categories.
NTFCA announced the nominations in each category last week with membership then voting for one final winner in each of the categories.
“The choices this year were diverse and no one film dominated the winner’s categories,” said NTFCA President Rita Cook. “In the first round of voting members sent in their top five picks per category and it was a large and varied group of nominees. Members then voted on their final choice of winners from the list of nominees in each category.”
While “Hamnet” was only a few votes behind, “Sinners” won Best Picture this year.
Timothée Chalamet in “Marty Supreme” was the Best Actor win with Michael Jordan in “Sinners” not far behind.
“Hamnet’s” Jessie Buckley won Best Actress; however, a good number of members also voted for Rose Byrne who played the lead in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.”
Delroy Lindo won by one vote in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role in “Sinners” this year, but Sean Penn was just one vote behind for his role in “One Battle After Another” as was Stellan Skarsgård for his performance in “Sentimental Value.”
Chase Infiniti won in the category of Best Newcomer for her role in “One Battle After Another” with Miles Caton not far behind for “Sinners.”
“Sinners” won the GARY MURRAY AWARD (Best Ensemble) category with “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” another member favorite in that category.
