TIM LAUGHLIN: Who saw this temple in its former glory? (part 7)

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness; prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.” – Luke 3:4

The prophecy of Isaiah 40:3,4 was being fulfilled with the appearance of John the Baptist who was preparing people for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ by preaching repentance! John was baptizing people as they repented of their sins and rebuking those who were coming for a religious ritual, devoid of any knowledge of their sins or what this new baptism was all about.

This was the very beginning of the New Testament church, about to receive Jesus, their Savior Lord and Deliverer who would lay the foundation and appoint the government of God with twelve apostles. Jesus didn’t rent a building, fill it with chairs and meet once a week, no, He took twelve living stones and built a “New Creation Temple!”

The model for all of Christianity to follow was set in living stone in that we are to become a living breathing expression of Jesus in the earth, no longer confined to a man-made temple, but becoming a life-giving spiritual house!

“Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood to offer up sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”I Peter 2:4,5
