No longer I

PART I

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

The all seeing I of man dominates the modern day landscape of a media driven, all about me society of selfish people consumed with themselves. This selfish mindset has spilled over into the church of God promoting self love, self esteem, pride and selfish ambition, totally ignoring the word of God and the cross of Christ.

Self help gurus, prosperity preachers and doctors of anything you can imagine are everywhere promoting the flesh with its health, wealth and success gospel that fuels the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, something Jesus said that we are to die to.

The message today is get all you can, and can all you get, climb the ladder of success, be a champion of a capitalistic greedy society, hell bent on their own destruction because of their ignorance of God’s word.

No talk of death to self or the cross of Christ that killed everyone who was ever nailed to it, the blood of our redemption, or repentance from sin, no, that’s old time religion and besides it scares off the nice clean, white, middle class tithers that they want to fill their cathedrals of complacency and pad their pockets so that their mega ministries will grow into huge monuments of man-centered religion filled with the rich and famous.

Botox for everyone, bigger homes, faster cars, bigger bank accounts and bigger breasts. There is absolutely no end to the madness of this generation of me driven maniacs.

This me centered lifestyle is diametrically opposed to the teachings and gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and will lead you down the broad road of destruction.

“And he who does not take up his cross (cruel instrument of death) and follow Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” – Matthew 10:38,39
