The miracles of Jesus (part 8)

Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea so that the boat was covered with the waves. But Jesus was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us we are perishing!” – Matthew 8:23-25

Our first residential ministry was on a farm, and our residents lived in trailer houses which as you know don’t fare well in storms, tornadoes and high wind.

So out of necessity, there have been several times that I would be standing out in the rain rebuking the storms.

I can imagine what the ladies in our program were saying as I stood and prayed in the storm: “That crazy fool is going to get killed!”

But every time – and there were quite a few over the years – the tornadoes would go around or jump over us, and we were never touched. Glory to God!

Several years ago, we lived right in the path of a giant tornado that tore up downtown Ft. Worth, but as we prayed it jumped right over us!

We as His disciples have all authority over our enemies and over that which comes to destroy us, storms and tornadoes included. So, when approached by deadly weather, pray, rebuke and rejoice that your heavenly Father is in complete control of all things.

Jesus said to His disciples, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. – Matthew 8:26
