The miracles of Jesus (part 22)

Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and He went up on a mountain to pray. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. – Matthew 14:24,25

Walking on water is physically impossible, but two people have done it that I know of, Jesus and Peter. One of His greatest miracles when He startled the boys as He came walking to them in the storm.

When the disciples saw Him, they were afraid, thinking He was a ghost. Jesus said to them, “Be of good cheer. It is I, do not be afraid.” Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to you on the water.”  So, Jesus said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat and actually walked on water, that is until he took his eyes off of Jesus and fixed his attention on the waves and the storm.

Are you in the midst of a storm in your life and the only One who can help is Jesus? Cry out to Him as Peter did and He will come to you. A few weeks ago, as I was suffering through a trial, I cried out to Him, “Where are You?” He replied immediately, “I am just a breath away.” Our God is an awesome God.

When Peter saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. – Matthew 14:30-32
