The miracles of Jesus (part 16)

And when He called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. – Matthew 10:1

This is the transition of passing the power to the disciples who were to become apostles of Christ.

Disciples follow, apostles are sent. His disciples followed Him learning the ministry, and then as He called them to be apostles, ones sent, they were to pass on the healing power of God to the people.

Upon His future death, burial, resurrection and ascension He would send the Holy Spirit to baptize His church and continue the transition from merely disciples of Christ to members of His body who would become the expression of Him in the earth.

Twelve apostles would become one hundred twenty sold out followers of the Lord Jesus.

After three years of on the job training, the disciples were ready to go out and spread the gospel, heal the sick and perform all the miracles that Jesus did in His name.

These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them saying:

“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.’” – Matthew 10:7,8
