ON THE JOB TRAINING (part 28)

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”  MATTHEW 16:13-15

Twelve guys walking with Jesus, sold out, left all-disciples and they don't know who they are following? Hard to believe but evidently true! Peter, on the other hand received a revelation directly from the throne, “BREAKING NEWS!” Jesus is the Christ (anointed One) Son of the living God.

Jesus was elated that Peter got a revelation from God and He gave him the keys to the Kingdom. He then proceeded to tell the disciples that He would go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and be killed. Peter with the keys in his pocket and pride in his heart took the Lord aside and rebuked Him.

I taught this in our Tuesday night Bible study on deliverance that sin can open the door to the devil. Peter had given the devil opportunity to enter him and Jesus turned to His star disciple and said, “Get behind Me Satan, you are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Pride comes before a fall.

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.II CORINTHIANS 12:7
