ON THE JOB TRAINING (part 26)

“Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.”MATTHEW 13:22

The cares of this world are on the nightly news, available to choke the living daylights out of anyone who watches it and the deceitfulness of riches are displayed also as the stock market goes up and down like a roller coaster.

The parable of the sower is all about planting the Word in your heart and the various conditions necessary for it to become rooted and grounded in you. It is impossible to successfully plant seed in ground that is covered in thorns and thistles, it is just as difficult to receive God’s word when surrounded by the cares of this life.

In order for one to receive the life giving word of the living God one has to shut out all distractions and anything that would interrupt your quiet time with Him. Set aside a time to be intimate with God and dedicate that time to read, meditate and absorb the revelation He wants to share with you.

“But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root (Not the root) of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”I TIMOTHY 6:9,10
