The dynamics of discipleship (part 43)

Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. – JOHN 8:34-36

David, because of his sin, fell from his Divine appointment as King and became a common slave worthy of death. From a man after God’s own heart to convicted adulterer and murderer – in the blink of an eye.

The consequences of our sins bring about grave circumstances such as the death of David and Bathsheba’s firstborn son.

And then, throughout the rest of his life he experienced many trials and tribulations and death within his own family even to the point of losing his kingdom to his son and being ridiculed for his sins.

You can justify, lie and act like nothing has happened –but your sin will find you out and your consequences will come like hungry lions on the hunt.

It is like a blood trail when hunting. You wound an animal and then follow the blood until you find them dead. So it is for everyone who sins against a holy God.

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. – HEBREWS 10:26,27
