The dynamics of discipleship (part 34)

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” – LUKE 4:18

Oppression means to crush by abuse of power or authority, to weigh down or to burden.

This is what Satan does – he oppresses us to the point of depression and even suicide unless we fight him off with faith and the sword of the Spirit.

Millions today, even in the body of Christ are oppressed and brought down into discouragement, filled with fear, doubt and unbelief, unable to function, much less war with their enemies.

Jesus came to set the captives free of oppression, depression and fear.

The Word tells us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ or to the obedience of His word.

In other words, fill your mind with the word of God, meditate on His thousands of promises for you and fight the good fight of faith that you are called to do in the name, power, blood and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Oppression be gone!

“That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” – COLOSSIANS 1:10-13
