The dynamics of discipleship (part 30)

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” – LUKE 4:18,19

The above-mentioned scripture is the body of Christ's mission statement and as His instruments we must obey His call to do that in which He commands. He has anointed us to preach, heal, proclaim liberty, recover sight to the blind and liberty to the oppressed. We are his ambassadors and representatives with power of attorney to act in His name.

Anointing is symbolic of the Holy Spirit imparted to His followers who have laid down their lives for Him. It is received through the “Baptism in the Holy Spirit” by faith in His name and by asking for His anointing. It is imperative that you receive power from on high in order to do the works of Christ and to fulfill your divine destiny.

In regards to spiritual warfare and deliverance, the anointing breaks the yoke of bondage on a person, setting them free from Satan’s stronghold. The yoke is what holds us to whatever sin that has created a stronghold in a person’s life.

“It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” – ISAIAH 10:27
