This summer, let your imagination burst with color!

The Ferris Public Library and the City of Ferris invites readers to join our Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World.” It kicks off June 9 and runs through the middle of July.

We have weekly special performers, craft sessions, teen times and movie matinees lined up. And as always, don’t forget to track your reading progress with our easy-to-use app, Reader Zone, to earn awesome prizes!

Call or stop by the library for more information.

“Monkey See Monkey Do” will be here on Tuesday, June 10 at 11 a.m.

During this educational event, you’ll have the opportunity to see and learn about a sloth, lemur, Asian leopard cat, capybara, and a crocodile!

Everyone will also have the chance to pet one of these amazing animals.

Wednesday afternoons are better known as CRAFTERNOONS around the library. We have crafts planned for children ages 3-12 from 3 to 4 p.m.

This Thursday at 11 a.m. we’ll be showing “Dog Man” (Rated PG). Popcorn and water will be provided, all children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

For a calendar of all the activities scheduled for our Summer Reading Program, come by the library or follow the library’s Facebook page.

NEW BOOKS: “The Murder Machine” by Heather Graham, “The Amalfi Curse” by Sarah Penner, “Just Our Luck” by Denise Williams, and “The Last Apothecary” by Sarah Penner.

WORD OF THE WEEK: “Pivotal” (PIV-uh-tul) – very important (adjective). On July 5, 1996, Dolly the sheep was born. As the first cloned mammal ever to be created from an adult cell, her birth caused a worldwide sensation and was a pivotal moment in cloning technology. Dolly’s existence proved that the cell of an adult mammal could be manipulated to produce an entirely new living mammal.

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
