FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (May 12, 2022)

As the Ferris Public Library wraps up the final details for our 2022 Summer Reading Club, we will be printing the schedule and have them placed in the students’ end-of-school-year packets.

If your child(ren) does not attend a Ferris school, you may pick up a calendar here at the library after May 31.

We will be holding in-person programs this summer and have some great performers lined up.

Jer Giles is doing a spectacular job with the murals in the Aubrey Trussell Memorial Meeting room. This project is made possible by the generous donation to the library by the Estate of Virginia Duff, which we are extremely grateful for.

The Ferris Library received funds from her estate in 2013, 2014, and 2015. We have been careful to only purchase long-lasting items that we feel would honor Ms. Duff.

NEW BOOKS: “What Happened to the Bennetts” (LP) by Lisa Scottoline, “Present Danger: Rocky Mountain Courage #1” (LP) by Elizabeth Goddard, “Diablo Mesa” by Douglas Preston, “Sister Stardust” by Jane Green, “Gwendy’s Final Task” by Stephen King, “Baby Steps Millionaires: How Ordinary People Built Extraordinary Wealth and How You Can Too” (Dewey 330) by Dave Ramsey, and “What Happened to You?: Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing” (Dewey 616) by Bruce D. Perry, M.D., Ph.D.

WORD OF THE WEEK: Widdershins (Origin: Scottish) meaning in a left-handed direction; counterclockwise. For the first 200 years of the word’s life, it had another meaning as well – it was used to describe a particular kind of bad hair day when you simply can’t do a thing with your hair!
