FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (February 22, 2024)

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Ellis County Elections Department will be holding the Joint Republican and Democratic Primary Elections here at the library from 7 7 p.m. Feel free to call the library at (972) 544-2110 or come by to get a copy of local early voting centers for Ellis County.

You still have time to stop in and view our Black History Month display of books. Enrich your child’s knowledge of black history or explore the diverse and powerful voices of black authors.

Also, mark your calendars for our Black History Month Celebration scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22. We will hold a quick Historical Figures in Black History bingo session from 4 to 4:30 p.m., then begin the movie “Soul” (rated PG) at 4:30. Popcorn will be provided.

Story Time is hosted every Wednesday from 10:30 – 11 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the treasure chest.

After-School Game Time is held each Thursday from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room and board games are also available.

NEW BOOKS: “The Heiress” by Rachel Hawkins, “The Night Island” by Jayne Ann Krentz, “The Witch is Back” by Sophie H. Morgan, “The Wonder of It All” by Barbara Taylor Bradford, and “When I Was Your Age” (Dewey BIO) by Kenan Thompson.

BOOK BLURB: “The Heiress” by Rachel Hawkins, released 2024. “Featuring unreliable narrators and twists throughout, Hawkins’ latest continues her reign as the queen of slow-burn domestic thrillers. This is a page-turner that readers will find hard to put down and is perfect for fans of stories with ambiguous morals and dysfunctional families.” – Booklist

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
