We want to thank everyone who participated in Take Your Child to the Library Day last Thursday.

We had a wonderful turnout and introduced many new families to the library. Check out our Facebook page for pictures and program updates.

Our upcoming events include a children’s Valentine’s Day Craft & Bingo on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 3:30 – 5 p.m., and a Black History Craft on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Don’t forget to stop by anytime this month and take part in our scavenger hunt highlighting influential figures in Black History.

STORY TIME is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the treasure chest to take home.

AFTER-SCHOOL GAME TIME is held each Thursday from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room and board games are also available.

NEW BOOKS: “Is She Really Going out with Him?” by Sophie Cousens, “Better Left Unsent” by Lia Louis, “The Message” (Dewey BIO) by Ta-Nehisi Coates, and “Most Requested Copycat Dishes: 101 Homemade Versions of Your Favorite Restaurant Recipes” (Dewey 641) by Favorite Family Recipes.

FUN FACT: Nearly 250 million roses are grown in preparation for Valentine's Day each year.

We take red roses for granted as a Valentine’s Day staple, but many roses actually don’t grow in February weather in the U.S. because it’s too cold.

Instead, millions of flowers are grown around the world and shipped to the U.S. specifically for Feb. 14.

Most of the roses we gift for Valentine’s Day come from Ecuador, Kenya and Columbia.

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
