The Ferris Public Library wishes all students, teachers, and families a happy and successful start to the new school year!
We know the first days can be both exciting and a little overwhelming, and we hope your transition back has gone smoothly. Whether you’re starting kindergarten or heading into your senior year the library is here to support you every step of the way.
Need a quiet place to study, help with homework, or just a break after a long school day? We’ve got you covered!
And don’t forget, the library isn’t just for studying! We offer fun after-school programs like Lego Lab, Game Time, and even Dungeons & Dragons sessions for teens. It’s a great way to unwind, make friends, and get creative outside the classroom.
The City of Ferris and Leaders at Heart Academy, in partnership with the North Texas Food Bank, will host their monthly Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, August 21, starting at 9 a.m. at 1000 Ferris Road. Please note: The Mobile Food Pantry has moved from the 3rd Wednesday of each month to the 3rd Thursday moving forward. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Knight at tjknight@leadersatheart.education.
Join us on Thursday, August 21 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for Lego Lab, a relaxed, come-and-go program with no set rules – just creativity! Kids can build towers, vehicles, creatures, or anything their imaginations dream up using our large collection of Lego bricks. No registration needed, just stop by and start building!
NEW BOOKS: “It Happened on the Lake” by Lisa Jackson, “With a Vengeance” by Riley Sager, “South of Nowhere” Jeffery Deaver, “My Name is Emilia del Valle” by Isabel Allende, “The Last Ferry Out” by Andrea Bartz, and “A Mind of Her Own” by Danielle Steel.
WORD OF THE WEEK: “Bugaboo” (BUG-uh-boo) – Noun meaning an object of fear or alarm; something that created worry or is upsetting. “For many people, spiders are a huge bugaboo. They rarely hurt people and actually help us by catching and eating bugs that can harm us. But according to some studies, more than half of people surveyed are afraid of them.”
