OVILLA – On Aug. 30 at 11:24 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of FM 664 and West Highland Road.

The preliminary investigation showed a white 2011 Chrysler 200 was stopped at the stop sign on West Highland Road.

A blue 2019 Dodge 1500 pickup was traveling south on FM 664 when, for an as of yet undetermined reason, the Chrysler drove into the intersection, where it was struck by the pickup.

The driver of the Chrysler, 65 year-old, Debra Bates, of Ovilla, was transported by ambulance to Baylor Hospital in Waxahachie, and was later pronounced dead by hospital personnel.

Her passenger, 66 year-old, Leonard Bates, of Ovilla, was transported by ambulance to Baylor Hospital in Waxahachie.

The driver of the Dodge pickup, 42 year-old, Ginger Stein-man, of Ovilla, was transported by ambulance to Methodist Dallas Medical Center .

The investigation is still on-going, and there is no other information available at this time.
