BIRDVILLE — Quarterback C.J. Nelson ran for one touchdown and threw for another as Richland defeated Red Oak.Richland (4-1, 1-1 4-5A-I) took control early. Richland caused four turnovers, including two interceptions by Christian Smith-Johnson. Richland scored on two drives after turnovers.E.J.

Red Oak gets first district win, tops Mansfield Legacy 49-28

RED OAK, TX – The Red Oak Hawks wasted no time last Friday night to jump out in front of the Mansfield Legacy Broncos.After receiving the opening kickoff, the Hawks needed only one play from scrimmage and 13 seconds to go up 7-0.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEEK 5: Ennis 47, Sulphur Springs 14

ENNIS — Jackson Gilkey had 197 total yards and three touchdowns to lead Ennis (5-0, 2-0) over Sulphur Springs (0-5,0-2) in District 8-5A Division II at Lion Memorial Stadium.Gilkey connected on a 45-yard touchdown pass to Gracen Harris for Ennis. Harris ended up with 161 yards receiving.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEEK 5: Midlothian Heritage 49, Springtown 13

MIDLOTHIAN — Quarterback Kaden Brown threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns to lead Midlothian Heritage over Springtown at Midlothian ISD Multi-purpose Stadium.Brown also added 113 yards on the ground and another touchdown for Heritage (4-1).

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEEK 5: Midlothian 31, Birdville 7

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS — Jordon Richburg rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns to lead Midlothian (2-2, 1-0 District 4-5A I) over Birdville (2-2, 0-1) at the Birdville Fine Arts Complex.Midlothian rolled up 388 yards rushing. The defense limited Birdville to 203 total yards and eight first downs.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEEK 5: Red Oak 49, Mansfield Legacy 28

RED OAK — Jaylon Robinson passed for 248 yards and five touchdowns to lead Red Oak to its first win.Red Oak (1-3, 1-0 in District 4-5A Div. I) jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter on quick-strike touchdown passes from Robinson — 35 yards to Jace Wyatt, 16 yards to La’Kelsey Johnson Jr.

WAXAHACHIE — Iverson Young rushed for 164 yards and two scores as Waxahachie outlasted Mansfield Lake Ridge.After a back-and-forth first half that featured seven turnovers and a safety, Waxahachie seized control after quarterback Roderick Hartsfield Jr.

Maypearl takes care of business – beats Grand Saline 26-3

MAYPEARL – Coming off of a blow-out victory against the Clifton Cubs, the Maypearl Panthers beat the Grand Saline Indians 26-3. Showing off their strong defense, the Panthers held the Indians to a single field goal in the first quarter.
