Lake Belton Broncos win first ever district game as a high school, beating Red Oak in overtime, 48-47

RED OAK – In an offensive showdown, Red Oak fell in overtime to the Lake Belton 48-47 on Friday, Sept. 9 at home, with the visiting Broncos picking up their first ever district win as a new high school.The Hawks used only 32 seconds to score their first touchdown, and the game was on.

SEPTEMBER 9: Colleyville Heritage 23, Ennis 20

ENNIS – Ryan Zuckert’s 26-yard field goal with three seconds left lifted Colleyville Heritage (2-1) to a 23-20 win over Ennis on Friday night.Ennis (0-3) took a 20-17 lead with 10:59 left on Jackson Gilkey’s 2-yard touchdown run.

SEPTEMBER 9: Lake Belton 48, Red Oak 47

RED OAK – Quarterback Connor Crews accounted for all seven of Lake Belton’s touchdowns, none more important than a 14-yard pass to Micah Hudson in overtime, as Lake Belton came back from a 14-point halftime deficit.

SEPTEMBER 9: Midlothian 32, Killeen Shoemaker 27

KILLEEN – Bryant Wesco caught eight passes for 143 yards, including an 80-yard catch-and-run early in the fourth quarter, as Midlothian prevailed in a District 4-5A opener.Midlothian (3-0) trailed 14-10 at halftime after Shoemaker’s Jamarius Stewart ran for 118 yards and two scores.

SEPTEMBER 9: Midlothian Heritage 41, Waco La Vega 14

MIDLOTHIAN – Midlothian Heritage wide receiver Xavier Moten went for 113 receiving yards and three touchdowns, leading Heritage to a victory over Waco La Vega at Midlothian ISD Stadium.Quarterback Kaden Brown opened the game with a 41-yard touchdown run.

SEPTEMBER 9: Waxahachie 49, Grand Prairie 7

GRAND PRAIRIE – Jayden Becks rushed for 125 yards on 11 carries and had two touchdowns in Waxahachie’s win over Grand Prairie at the Gopher-Warrior Bowl.Waxahachie quarterback Roderick Hartsfield Jr. had seven completions for 195 yards and three touchdowns.

Red Oak defense steps up, stops Arlington Seguin 35-25

ARLINGTON – The Red Oak Hawks took their 1-0 record on the road last Friday night, traveling to Arlington where they battled the Arlington Seguin Cougars in a non-district match-up.The Hawks ground game eventually took its toll on the Cougars, but they did not go away quietly.

SEPTEMBER 2: Midlothian 28, Ennis 10

ENNIS – Chad Ragle rushed for 133 yards and Michael Garber added 114 as Midlothian’s rushing attack tallied 382 yards in a 28-10 win over Ennis on Friday night.Midlothian (2-0) took advantage of four turnovers by Ennis (0-2), all of which were in Midlothian’s territory.
