State Capitol closed until day after Presidential inauguration

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety announced late last week the closure of the Texas State Capitol “out of an abundance of caution” until Thursday of this week. The Capitol was closed from Saturday, Jan. 16 until Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Commissioners approve $50,000 for children’s advocacy

ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Commissioners’ Court approved $50,000 last week with a nod to supporting the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center.
On Jan. 12, county commissioners approved the authorization of a payment to the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) joined the country in observing national AMBER Alert Awareness Day on Wednesday, Jan. 13, marking 25 years since 9-year-old Amber Hagerman of Arlington, Texas, was abducted. Hagerman was found dead four days later.
