Police using video footage to determine cemetery vandals

WAXAHACHIE – The Waxahachie police are looking at video footage from this past weekend’s vandalism outbreak at the Waxahachie Cemetery.Police believe the event took place between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning. More than 275 headstones were vandalized.

Ennis man convicted of sexually abusing 10-year-old girl

WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County and District Attorney Ann Montgomery announced that Jose Gustavo Garcia-Rodriguez, 28, of Ennis, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for continuous sexual abuse of a young child.

Red Oak ISD updates human sexuality curriculum for 2022-2023 school year

RED OAK – The board passed the curriculum, which was recommended by the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) with changes involving students in middle school and ninth grade.The recently approved changes to the human sexuality curriculum will begin for the 2021-22 school year.

ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County primary election results from Tuesday, March 1 are in with the unofficial results expectedly seeing current Governor Greg Abbott and Beta O’Rourke taking the lead in Ellis County.Abbott received 63.07% of the vote in the county against his seven opponents.

Waxahachie native reenlists aboard aircraft carrier

ADRIATIC SEA – A Waxahachie native was one of 40 sailors assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) who took the next step in their Navy careers by reenlisting as a group during a mass-reenlistment ceremony in the ship’ hangar bay Feb. 27.

Kaufman woman arrested for theft by Texas A&M Forest Service

KAUFMAN – Texas A&M Forest Service Law Enforcement Investigators and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office arrested Frances Charline Lee Cole, 51, of Kaufman, for theft of more than $2,500 and less than $30,000 in Hopkins County on March 2.

Quin named Hutchins new city manager

HUTCHINS – James Quin  took over the position as the new city manager of Hutchins on Feb. 21.The position was open after former City Manager Trudy Lewis left for another opportunity in early December of last year.Quin was chosen out of over a dozen applicants who applied for the position.
