WILMER - The Eddie Bernice Johnson Elementary School is set to open September 8 in Wilmer according to school principal Umoja S. Turner.

RED OAK – Red Oak ISD Superintendent Brenda Sanford swore in new ROISD Police Chief Phillip Prasifka on Aug, 17.
Prasifka, formerly with the City of Glenn Heights for 18 years, was joined by his wife, three children who are ROHS graduates, and his parents.

Gov. Abbott says any city defunding police should have property taxes frozen forever

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen are in Fort Worth Tuesday to announce a proposal that would freeze property taxes in any city that defunds police.
Austin City Council voted last week to cut police funding by a third to invest in social services.

Isle of Wright County, Virginia Animal Shelter volunteers came together and purchased a Buddy Bag and Cool Vest for K9 Fuse who along with her handler, Officer Charles Banks III, are members of the Ferris Police Department. The Buddy Bag contains equipment used to provide life-sustaining treatment to an injured K9 while en route to a veterinarian.
