Ferris traffic stop leads to heroin discovery

FERRIS – The Ferris Police Department got more than they bargained for last Thursday when a routine traffic stop turned into a drug-related arrest. According to Ferris Police Chief John DeLeon, on Thursday, Oct. 15 at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Concert shooting sends man to hospital

ELLIS COUNTY – One person was seriously hurt in a shooting Sunday at an outdoor concert south of Ferris, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting occurred around midnight at a property in the 600 block of Risinger Road.

HUTCHINS – Hutchins resident Joe Ed Wallace, 73, died earlier this year, but the City of Hutchins has made sure he will not be forgotten.   Originally from Hillsboro, Wallace moved to Hutchins in the 70s to accept a position of police officer.  He later became the city’s police chief.

CAR CRASH KILLS TWO NEAR PALMER

PALMER – A 28-year-old front seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene Oct. 9, following a major accident on Interstate 45 northbound near mile marker 258 at around 6 p.m.

Wilmer wastewater spill poses no danger

WILMER – A wastewater spill occurred in the area east of Post Oak Road and the western edge of the Trinity riverbank, according to Wilmer officials.  The leakage is due to a line break of the force main to the Dallas Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant.
