Texas to fully end taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood facilities in Texas will no longer receive taxpayer funds through the Medicaid program beginning Feb. 3. The state denied the abortion provider’s request to continue to receive Medicaid reimbursement funding for its clinics, as Catholic News Agency observed.

STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED

ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Department recovered over a quarter of a million dollars in stolen property last week. The stolen property was recovered thanks to a local resident’s tip.

WILMER – The City of Wilmer had its grand opening Jan. 4 showcasing the city’s new Fire Station No. 1. Long anticipated, Wilmer mayor Sheila Petta, city council members and fire fighters were in attendance for the ribbon cutting and virtual tour of the new station.

DeSoto state rep. tests positive for COVID-19

AUSTIN – Texas Rep. Carl Sherman, whose district includes DeSoto, said Friday that he tested positive for COVID-19, the Texas Tribune reports.  Sherman didn’t disclose how he thought he contracted coronavirus.
