‘Agnes of God’ opens this weekend in Ennis

“Agnes of God” by John Pielmeier opens Friday at Theatre Rocks!, 505 NW Main St. in Ennis. The play, which was a hit on Broadway, is directed by Bill Rhoten and will run for four weekends.

Summoned to a convent, Dr. Martha Livingstone, a court-appointed psychiatrist (played by Samantha Jo Green), is charged with assessing the sanity of a novice nun (Cassidy Hortman). Livingstone’s questions force a re-examination of the meaning of faith and the power of love, leading to a dramatic, compelling climax.

The part of Mother Miriam Ruth is dual cast, with Sheryl Sullivan and Lisa Rosewell each portraying the role for five performances. Interviews with all four actresses are available for viewing at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNVUYmR7i-w&list=PLf4rslZI1Eb2jMkEirReLtsfqIrNbpGck.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays Oct. 12 to Nov. 3 and 2:30 p.m. Sundays Oct. 28 and Nov. 4.

Tickets are $12 for students and seniors, $15 for general adult admission. For ticket and performance information, visit www.theatrerocks.com or call 972-878-5126.
