DALLAS – Damian Edwards rushed for 135 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Ferris (3-5, 2-1 District 6-4A Div. II) past Lincoln (5-3, 2-1), 22-20 at John Kincaid Stadium.
The Tigers opened the scoring in the first quarter with Keiontay Coleman taking it in from 6-yards out. Lincoln then went for two but was stopped short.
Down by 6, Ferris scored in the second quarter on a 19-yard pass from junior quarterback Kobe Lankford to sophomore wide receiver Matthew Nunez. The Yellowjackets made their two-point try, taking the lead 8-6.
Ferris scored again in the second, with Edwards taking the ball in from two yards out. Gustavo Martinez added the extra-point kick to make it 15-6 Ferris.
Edwards scored again in the third quarter, this time from 4-yards out. The extra-point kick by Martinez was good, and the Yellowjackets led 22-6.
The Tigers started a third-quarter comeback, with Dewaylon Jones running 22 yards for a touchdown. Then, Domanek Wilkerson scored on a 3-yard run to get Lincoln within two in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers two-point conversion failed, and Ferris run out the clock for the win.
This Friday, Ferris celebrates Dunbar Alumni night at Yellowjacket Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
