Hawks air it out
RED OAK - The Hawks have never really been known as an air an attack offense, but with two great quarterbacks and speedy receivers, the Joshua Owls found out the hard way the Hawks have a very good 1-2 punch this year.
The Hawks hosted the Joshua Owls for the final scrimmage before the regular season starts.
The Freshman and JV squads pretty much ran over Joshua. Although no score was kept, it was obvious the Hawks were dominating everywhere on the field.
The first half of the Varsity scrimmages was fairly controlled with each team getting a set number of plays, then switching out.
The real fun came when they went almost live football. Almost meaning, they could not rush the kicker and had to fair catch any punts.
The owls went on offense first and started moving the ball, but the Hawks defense forced up a turnover and was off to the races.
The inside out running game set up the air attack as the Hawks quickly took advantage of deep wide open receivers. Before Joshua knew what had happened, they were down 14-0.
The Hawks didn’t stop, and put up 21 unanswered points and looked very good doing it.
The first Varsity game is this Friday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Billy Goodloe Stadium when the Hawks host N. Garland.
