RED OAK - The Waxahachie defense held strong when it mattered most to get its first district win of the year 21-7.

Red Oak mustered just two second half first downs and was 0-for-7 on third downs and 0-for-4 on fourth downs in the second half as it couldn’t get anything going at all.

Waxahachie got sacks from DA Donalson, Chris Clark and Randon Haynes on fourth down plays.

Despite that, the Indians couldn’t put the game away until Isiah Parrish rushed through the left side for 43-yard run with 2:50 left in the game.

Waxahachie also got scores from junior quarterback Avery Jackson from 37 and 20 yards out.

The Hawks’ lone score came on a nine-yard run for D.J. Augustus in the second quarter. He finished with 22 carries for 176 yards.

The victory marked the 100th in Waxahachie coach David Ream’s tenure with the school.
