DUNCANVILLE - Coach Jay Johnson had His Palmer Bulldogs team ready for the first playoff game of the 2010 season facing the Sunnyvale Raiders.
The game was Tuesday, May 11 at Duncanville High school Baseball Stadium.
When the star spangle banner began you could feel the excitement as fired up fans covered their hearts and faced the flag.
Texas high school playoffs are great and this looked to be an awesome game. You could smell the fresh cut grass and see all the little children running around with hotdogs, and big dreams of some day playing in the majors.
Zach Hobbs starting pitcher for the Bulldogs was in the zone and on fire. The dogs showed up with their bats hot also. In the top of the third inning the Bulldogs took the momentum no doubt and never looked back.
The bottom of the seventh inning was intense and looks like the Raiders might rally. Hobbs had one out with the bases loaded and three runs had scored. Hobbs dug down deep and threw some of his best stuff as the Palmer fans were on their feet cheering Hobbs the whole time the Raiders last two at bats were up.
The bulldogs got it done and enjoyed the victory while they could knowing they would face the Raiders later in the week.
The final was 8-4 Bulldogs on top. Congratulations on your win Bulldogs and some really nice pitching Zach Hobbs.
