In a key district matchup the Lady Hawks hosted the Mesquite Poteet Lady Pirates on Senior night last Wednesday.

In a great defensive game, by both teams, the Lady Hawks defeated the Mesquite Poteet Lady Pirates 5-2 in seven innings to clinch second place in District 15-4A action.

Senior Tilly Webb scored a run and hit a long double sending it to the top of the centerfield fence and looked like it was going over for a homerun, but caught the top of the fence.

She had a good game.

Senior Tara McKenney had two runs and two stolen bases for the night and as usual played solid defense for the Lady Hawks. Juniors Erica Brown had two doubles and Lauren Tamez had one double.

Sophmore Jaimi Munoz went two for three at the plate with two runs batted in. Freshman Marley Dickert commanded from the mound with seven strikeouts and was even able to stay in the game after she sustained a hard hit to her pitching hand during the second inning.

This young lady has really done a spectacular job for the Lady Hawks this season.

The Lady Hawks playoff run starts this Friday night at 7 p.m. in Red Oak against long time rival Midlothian.

Game two moves to Midlo-thian on Saturday with a start time scheduled for 11 a.m.
