Hawks finish 2nd in district 15-4A baseball
RED OAK - The Hawks baseball picked back up after the state wide UIL athletic suspension on Friday, May 8.
It was also senior night for the team.
Prior to the game, the senior players were escorted by family and friends down the first base line as a brief bio was read about each player.
This game had a lot riding on it.
Both teams, Forney and Red Oak, came in knowing they were in the playoffs, but this game would decide sole possession of second place.
The Hawks held the Jackrabbits scoreless in the first inning, then jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Both teams had a few chances to score later in the game, but could not get runs across the plate.
Hawks pitching lead to routine infield ground balls or easy outfield pop-ups (at least they made it look easy).
Forney never really threatened late and the Hawks went on to win 1-0 and take sole possession of second place in District 15-4A.
The Hawks play off run will most likely begin around May 14, but check the high school web site for the latest schedule.
