It was a slow first quarter for Ennis Friday night at Texas Stadium, but the Lions gained momentum heading into the second.

With a first quarter field goal and an early second quarter touchdown, Heath held a 10-0 lead until Ennis Quarterback D.J. Betik found Jyavon King for a 13-yard touchdown pass before half-time. Ennis’ third quarter touchdown brought the crowd to its feet to try to help the Lions rally to a comeback.

That was not to be as Ennis, plagued by fumbles, could not reach the end-zone late in the fourth quarter on a fourth and five. As disheartening as the 17-14 loss was, Ennis still has to be proud of an 11-2 season with only one regular season loss and a post-season run into the third round of play-offs.

As the Lions lick their wounds, Rockwall-Heath (13-0) gears up to return to Texas Stadium this Friday at 7:30 p.m. to face Sulphur Springs (11-2) in the Class 4A Division II Region II final.
