Playoff Report: Area Round
The Ellis County Press
Class 5A Region II
Skyline (10-1) vs. DeSoto (6-5)
2 p.m. Saturday @ Carrollton’s Standridge Stadium
Notes: Don’t let DeSoto’s record fool you. The Eagles are the most underrated team in the southern Dallas County/Ellis County area, but Skyline’s warpath against opponents should make this game a shootout.
Class 5A Region I
Southlake Carroll (8-2) vs. Cedar Hill (10-1)
11 a.m. Saturday, Texas Stadium
Notes: Cedar Hill won’t be repeating as state champions this year, sorry.
Class 4A Region II
Longview (9-2) vs. Lancaster (7-4)
7:30 p.m. Friday, Dallas’ Kincaide Stadium
Notes: Despite the controversies surrounding their superintendent, Lancaster’s Tigers could make this game an upset. Longview hails from the tough district DeSoto competed in.
Class 4A Region I
Sulphur Springs (8-3) vs. Waxahachie (8-3)
7:30 p.m. Friday, Richardson’s Wildcat-Ram Stadium
Notes: Waxahachie last won a state championship in 1992. It’s almost as long as the Indians getting past the second round.
Kilgore (9-2) vs. Ennis (10-1)
7:30 p.m. Friday, Mesquite’s Memorial Stadium
Notes: Kilgore and Ennis both have recent state championship experience, but if Ennis and Waxahachie win two more times, they’ll meet again for a bigger prize.
Six-Man
Region IV
Calvert (8-0) vs. Milford (10-1)
TBA
Notes: Milford’s Bulldogs should be playing this week, if the schedule-makers would make up their mind. Visit HSGameTime.com to find Milford’s date with Calvert.
