RED OAK - The Red Oak Lady Hawks and the Midlothian Lady Panthers met at Mansfield Timberview High School last Tuesday evening to see who would advance to the second round of volleyball play-offs.
Red Oak was on fire from the very start of the match.
After allowing Midlothian to score first, Red Oak quickly took over and jumped out to a commanding lead.
Red Oak capitalized on several points handed to them by Midlothian on out-of-bounds serves.
The Lady Hawks took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-10.
Red Oak was visibly tiring in the third set and allowed Midlothian to keep the score close before a late burst of energy helped Red Oak sweep the game at 3-0 with a third set score of 25-18.
Midlothian players and coaches were excited to have made it to the playoffs and also disappointed not to make it through to the next round.
The Lady Panthers have vowed to regroup and be ready for next season.
The Lady Hawks went on to face Highland Park in the third round Saturday.
Red Oak forced Highland Park to play all five sets by taking sets two and three.
Highland Park came back to take the fourth and fifth sets to take the game at 3-2.
