Hawks lose to Forney Jackrabbits
RED OAK - The Hawks traveled east to Forney for their last regular season game of the year.
With a large Red Oak crowd in the stands on a cold night, the Hawks were looking to finish the season out with another district win.
The game started out with the Hawks special teams tackling the Forney kick returner near the 10 yard line thanks to a great kick off by the Hawks.
The Hawks defense quickly forced a three and out and the Hawks offense went to work.
Within a few minutes, the Hawks found the end zone and jumped out to an early 7-0 lead.
The next kick off also found the end zone and the Forney kick returner tried again to bring it out, only to be stopped near the 15-yard line.
The Hawks defense stopped Forney again giving the ball back to the Hawks with a short field.
The Hawks offense went back to work and found the end zone again and was now up 14-0.
Forney finally settled down and got their offense cranked up.
Hawks players and fans would watch Forney’s quarter back and running back start ripping of large chucks of yardage and the Jackrabbits had turned the momentum in their favor and took a 21-14 lead into halftime.
After the halftime ceremonies by the drill teams and bands, Forney went back to work and continued their rushing assault.
When the Hawks were able to get the ball back, penalties and missed opportunities forced punts.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Hawks were down 30-14 however, they would not give up.
The Hawks finally put together a drive and found the end zone again bringing life back to the crowd, but Forney had an answer for every Hawk drive.
Forney would go on to beat the Hawks 44-30.
Red Oak will now face Ennis at Cedar Hill on Friday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m.
