Palmer Bulldogs decisively restrained by Lone Oak Buffalos
The Ellis County Press
After losing their two key players last season, there were mixed expectations for the 2008-2009 Palmer Bulldogs.
Palmer opened their season at home against the Buffalos of Lone Oak High School.
The Buffalos wasted little time getting on the scoreboard first with a touchdown with 8:55 left in the first quarter.
By the end of the first, Lone Oak led 14-0 as Palmer could get nothing going offensively.
Seven seconds into the second quarter Lone Oak capitalized on their drive to the end zone started at the end of the first quarter.
The Buffalos went up 21-0 on the drive.
With 3:33 left in the half, Palmer Quarterback T. J. Barnes finally put Palmer on the board with a Quarterback keeper bringing the score to 28-7.
The Bulldogs seemed to come back after halftime with a renewed desire to get in the game.
Palmer’s Trent Harris returned the Lone Oak kick off for a touchdown making the score 28-13.
The Buffalos quickly chained the Bulldogs up with four more touchdowns ending the game at 55-19.
The Bulldogs take the field again on the road against Hico at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.
