RED OAK - That was the sound heard at Red Oak’s Lindsey Park Saturday morning as the Red Oak Youth Baseball Softball Association held its Opening Day Ceremonies.
The ceremonies were opened by League President Chris Worley making few announcements about the days’ events to the 20 plus teams which were in attendance.
Chris then introduced Jeff Johnson as the guest speaker.
Jeff offered some words of wisdom and inspiration to the players and coaches.
Jeff then led everyone in an opening day prayer.
The ceremonies ended with the singing of the National Anthem by one of the umpires.
Teams set up booths to raise money for their team fund by selling baked goods, breakfast and lunch items, snow cones and candy.
Some of the teams offered face and hair painting and games for all ages.
Besides the team booths, there was also a lot of baseball and softball action. Games from the always-fun-to-watch T-ball to coach pitch, to fast pitch softball, to regular baseball were going on all day long. With beautiful weather the league had a great turn out and this was one of the best opening day ceremonies.
The board members and volunteers have worked extremely hard to get the fields ready and make this season a memorable one for all the kids.
