RED OAK - Friday night’s game had the Kaufman Lions in town looking to get a district win against the Hawks.
What started out as a beautiful evening turned cold and windy when the sun went down.
The Hawks, however, were not affected by the cold and wind.
The Lady Hawks had the early game and were red hot.
The Lady Hawks never let the Lady Lions in this game.
The Lady Hawks offense attack was relentless and seemed to score at will.
With a 9-0 lead late in the game, the Lady Lions finally got the ball into the Hawks side of the field and were able to get some decent shots on goal, but the Lady Hawks’ keeper was not going to give up the shut out.
The Lady Hawks won the game 9-0.
The Lady Hawks next home game is March 14 when they host Ferris at 5:30 p.m.
When the boys game started, wind chills were in the low 30’s, but like the girls game, the boys came out fired up and were able to fend off an early push by the Lions. The Hawks went on the attack and were able to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The second half saw the teams trading shots on goal, but both goalies made great saves.
The Lions did put a lot of pressure on the Hawks late in the game, but the Hawks held firm and created a push of their own and were finally able to get another goal to take a 2-0 lead.
The second goal, with just a few minutes left in the game, seemed to take the life out of Lions and the Hawks just simply passed the ball around for next few minutes and ran the clock out and grab another district win.
The next home game for the Hawks is also March 14 against Ferris at 7:30 p.m.
