BMX races through DeSoto
DeSoto is home to Metroplex BMX, the first covered facility built exclusively for BMX racing in the nation. National BMX races have taken place in this facility since 1999, but during the weekend of March 16th through the 18th the eyes of the nation and the world will turn to DeSoto as they host the Super National/USA Cycling National Championship. 2,000 racers in all age categories will converge on DeSoto beginning on Thursday, March 15, 2012.
BMX was been added as an Olympic event in 2008 and the Gold Medalist from the 2008 Olympics will be competing in DeSoto during the Super Nationals.
“We’re extremely excited to have been selected to host the ABA Super Nationals in DeSoto,” commented Gary Elmore, event organizer and race director for Metroplex BMX. “Our facility was specifically designed to host top-level national events and none reach the level of prestige that the Super National will bring. We are very pleased to have been given the opportunity to host world class racers of all ages and abilities.”
