RED OAK - On Thursday, Dec 1, the Red Oak Junior High 7th and 8th grade girl’s teams opened up home play.

The 7th and 8th grade A teams had the first games.

The 7th grade A team trailed most of their game against Waxahachie, but late in the fourth made a great run and ended making it a close game, even though they lost.

The girls 8th grade A team, to say the least, dominated Waxahachie. In fact, Waxahachie did not score a basket until the second half.

The second half was the same; it was all Red Oak with the final score being 42-9 and if this group of girls can stay together into their sophomore and junior year in high school, watch out.

The final game was the 7th grade girls B team against Waxahachie.

The first half was a battle against nerves, jitters and a bunch of missed shots, but it was the JH Lady Hawks who calmed down and late in the second period starting hitting those shots.

In the second half, the girls had gained their confidence and just as important, became aggressive on the floor creating numerous steals and grabbing rebounds.

They went on to win 27-9.

The girls 8th grade A team also won a tournament that was played last weekend in Waxahachie.
