WAXAHACHIE - Southwestern Assembly of God University remained unbeaten Saturday, Nov. 12 at 4-0 by holding off a Sterling College team returning much of the talent from a squad who went 21-11 last year.
After leading by 10 to 14 points for most of the game, SAGU staved off a furious Warriors rally.
A big three-point basket by Dominique Rambo gave the Lions a 71-64 lead (1:35 to play).
After Sterling (Kansas) drew to within 73-72, Craig Grigsby converted a pair of free throws with 0:15 remaining to preserve the lead.
When the team scored their first basket of the game, a near-packed crowd launched thousands of ping pong balls in the air for a Southwestern snowstorm, Texas style.
Officials gave SAGU a technical foul for delay of game, which led to the Lions falling behind 10-2.
They quickly regrouped and led 41-28 at the half.
