Red Oak Lady Hawks remain undefeated
WAXAHACHIE - Although Friday Night Lights may be king in Texas, last Friday night it was second fiddle to several hundred Lady Hawk fans as they traveled to a huge show down with the #4 ranked Waxahachie Lady Indians.
Both teams came into the game undefeated and one of these teams will likely win the district 15-4A championship. Red Oak came in with 22 straight district championships while Waxahachie has been rolling through its competition.
The pre-game hype turned into reality.
It was an awesome five game series, with every game going down to the last serve.
The first two matches, the teams traded leads several times until the Lady Hawks hit the 18 and 19 point marks, where they pulled away taking games one and two (25-21 & 25-20).
Was it possible, the Lady Hawks could travel to Waxahachie and sweep them? No.
The Lady Indians rebounded and took games three and four (25-17 & 25-18) forcing a deciding game five.
With the Lady Indians seeming to pull away, the Lady Hawks were able to put together a four point rally and close the gap 11-9 and in the end the Lady Hawks had enough to overcome and win game five 15-13 in dramatic fashion.
If you were not there, it’s hard to explain the emotion, energy and excitement these young ladies went through and shown.
The Lady Hawks improved to 6-0 in district play with their win, while the Lady Indians are now 4-1 (district).
The two teams will meet again in Red Oak later in their schedule, but for now the Lady Hawks sit atop district 15-4A.
