New stadium to open Friday; New guidelines for students, fans
WAXAHACHIE - Friday, Sept. 23 will mark a historic day in Waxahachie athletics as the Waxahachie Indians play host to the Red Oak Hawks in the newly renovated Stuart B. Lumpkins stadium. With the opening of the new facility, fans will enjoy additional seating on the home and visitor site, new and convenient concession stands and bathrooms and additional parking.
The Waxahachie Independent School District administration, athletic staff and security have created new athletic event rules and guidelines for the safety of fans in the stadium as well as in the parking lots. These procedures are intended to create a safe and friendly environment for all who attend the games.
Among some of the most notable changes for students include requiring WISD students to show their student ID in order to purchase a home side student ticket. Additionally, students in grade pre-kindergarten through fifth grade will not be admitted to any athletic event without adult supervision. Supervision of students will end thirty minutes following the conclusion of the athletic event. Students still on the property after thirty minutes may be given a criminal trespass notice and not allowed at future athletic events.
All fans will be required to remain seated in the bleachers except when purchasing items from the concession stands or using the restrooms. Furthermore, there will be absolutely no “In and Out” admission. If a fan chooses to leave the game, he or she will be required to re-pay to enter the event.
Since Waxahachie ISD is a “Tobacco-Free Environment,” the district will also enforce this policy at the games.
Waxahachie ISD believes these new rules will create a safe and friendly environment for all who attend the football games. For additional information on athletic event rules and guidelines and to see the complete list, contact the Waxahachie ISD administration building at 972-923-4631.
