Fighting the heat; Red Oak Pee Wee Football opens its season
RED OAK - With temperatures hovering around 107 late in the day, the Red Oak Pee Wee Football Assocation opened its season with a weekend full of football and cheer.
Opening day was Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Red Oak Junior Hight field with games starting at 8 a.m.
Despite the heat these kids played and cheered in, there was great football to be seen.
However, the big day was Sunday, where many of the Red Oak Pee Wee teams were invited to play out at Cowboys Stadium. The Forney Pride select league out of Forney had use of the field and invited several leagues to come play.
After playing in the heat of Saturday, the teams traveled to the air conditioned Cowboys Stadium Sunday morning.
After each game the players and coaches got to have their photo taken on the star and each ticket was good for a guided stadium tour.
Win or lose, it was a great experience for these young boys and girls (and mom and dad’s too).
Be sure to check out some of the photos on the Red Oak Pee Wee Football Facebook page.
