Hawks playoff run ends in Texarkana
RED OAK - After coming back and beating Bryan Rudder, the Hawks hosted Texas High in a best of three series.
Game one was held in Red Oak on Friday, May 13.
The Hawks got behind 2-0 early in the game, but rallied back in the bottom of the second to tie the game and had their confidence back.
They put two more runs on the board in the bottom of the third and were up 4-2.
The defense stepped up with several key outs in the middle innings to keep the Hawks lead.
In the top of the fifth, the Tigers were able to get one run across, but the Hawks responded with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth taking a 6-3 lead into the sixth.
Brandon McMillion pitched the first four innings giving up only two hits.
In the top of the fifth, Drew Tyra came in and although he gave up an early solo home run, he did go through the heart of the Tigers line up putting several K’s in the book including the that last one to preserve the Hawks game one win.
Game two moved to Texas High in Texarkana where the Hawks lost a close game two forcing a deciding game three.
Game three would see Texas High score a bunch of runs while the Hawks struggled and eventually fell 10-3 ending their playoff run. Despite what was likely the hardest game for the seniors on the team, the Hawks had a great season and can hold their heads high.
