RED OAK - The Hawks baseball teamed traveled to Corsicana on Tuesday, March 29 and came up just short in another one run game and lost 2-1.

They returned to Buddy Groom Field on Friday April 1st to host West Mesquite to finish out the first half of district play.

The Hawks had no April fool’s jokes for the Wranglers as they opened up quick with three runs in the first two innings then added four more runs in the fourth.

The Wranglers never got their offense going due to the pitching of Robert Elles and the Hawks defense and the Hawks went on to win in 5 innings 11-0.

The Hawks had a short turn around as they traveled to Lancaster on Saturday, April 2.

The Hawks soared out to a huge lead before the Tigers could get three outs.

Two great defensive plays by Zach Gonzales and

Garrett Thomas preserved the no hitter for the Hawks pitching staff.

Coach Autrey did what he could to slow the scoring down showing a little mercy, but the Hawks were teeing off on the Tigers pitchers with doubles and triples common, including a in the park home run by Garrett Thomas.

The game was finally called after three innings as the Hawks won 24-0. The JV Hawks also played Lancaster prior to the varsity game and had no problems in defeating the Tigers. The Freshman Hawks hosted Mesquite Poteet on Saturday, April 2 in a double header and in the first game they too played a very good game.

The defensive was great including turning 2 double plays.

The pitching was pretty darn good too keeping the Pirates in the dugout and off the bases as they went on to win 4-0.
