Hawks boys soccer team become District 28-4A Champions
RED OAK - The Red Oak boy’s soccer team needed just one more win to go undefeated in District 28-4A soccer and that’s what they got.
Hosting Ennis on Friday, March 18, the Hawks started a little slow on offense (slow for them anyway), but around 7:30 p.m. into the first half the Hawks were on the board.
It seemed once that first goal went in, everything they shot at the goal went in from that point.
Pate and Almaguer combined for five of the Hawks eight goals. The Hawks went on to win 8-2 and remained undefeated and District 28-4A champions. At press time, no playoff information was available.
The Lady Hawks are also going to the playoffs.
They hosted Ennis on Friday, March 18, but the Lady Lions were trying to prove something and not lose to the Lady Hawks again.
They applied good pressure for most of the first half, but could not get past the Lady Hawks defense or their keeper.
The Lady Hawks also had something to prove after coming off a loss at Waxahachie.
The Lady Hawks were able to score in the 1st half and took that 1-0 lead into halftime.
The second half pretty much belonged to the Lady Hawks.
Although Ennis had a couple of good pushes, most of the game was played on the Ennis side of the field with several good shots on goal.
However, the Lady Hawks could not score another goal, but went on to win 1-0 over a feisty Ennis team.
Playoff information was not available at press time.
